Freespace 2 SCP - The Last Great Space Sim
Via: VideoSift
Freespace 2 is considered to be one of the greatest space sims of all time. When the source code to the game was released the community set to work at updating the game engine. The result is the Freespace Source Code Project (or SCP) which updates graphics, sound, and other minor tweaks for the game. (And also makes the game available to Linux and Mac players.)
The music playing in the background is "Shame" by Stabbing Westward.

Underwater Helium-Fueled Tourette Syndrome - F*ck it's cold!
Via: VideoSift
A pair of marine biologists descend down a deep coral-reef drop-off in the central Pacific, using high-tech closed-circuit rebreathers and breathing a mixture containing mostly helium. As they pass a depth of 320 feet on the way down, they discover what it feels like to penetrate a thermocline from the balmy 85-degree equatorial sea-surface temperatures, to the 50-degree deep upwelled water below. The diver carrying the camera, who was wearng only a t-shirt and swimsuit under his rebreather gear, had no idea that every helium-affected word he was saying was being picked up by the camera's microphone.

Evolution IS a Blind Watchmaker
Via: VideoSift
From Youtube:"
In this video I deconstruct the broken watch straw man argument used by creationist / ID supporters to attack evolution. I had to pack a ton of information into this video so you WILL need to pause it periodically.
The basic premise of the argument is that a bunch of parts will never randomly assemble into the correct arrangement to form a properly functioning complex. Once again, creationists / ID supporters miss the basic concept of evolution entirely. No biologists believes, nor is there any evidence that complex systems form spontaneously in one fell swoop. That would be creation. Systems evolve through many intermediates, one step at a time, slowly building up the complexity.
Here I deconstruct their straw man argument. Basically, I simulate clocks as living organisms. Selective pressure is focused on their ability to accurately tell time. NO goal is imposed on the design (you can tell this because every simulation ends with a differently constructed clock). And it works. Clocks evolve through a series of transitional forms: Pendulum, Proto-clock, 1-handed Clock, 2-handed Clock, 3-handed Clock, and 4-handed Clock. Gradually the complexity is built up.
These labels I have assigned to the transitional forms have nothing to do with the simulation itself. They are names I assigned so that we could analyze what the population was doing. The clocks are just clocks, living in their world, trying to tell time as accurately as possible.
One thing I wanted to address but didn't have time in the video is how rapid the transitional period can be. In some simulations the population goes from pendulums to 3-handed Clocks in a hundred or so generations. And the transitions between the transitional forms are even more rapid, happening in about ten generations. Chances are none or a very limited representation of that transition will be preserved in the fossil record.
One thing I should add. The program does not draw the clocks. It maintains, mates, and simulates them, but the drawing must be done manually from the genome matrix.
The program is written in MatLab.
The hand rotations that begin with 86 are 86,000 not 86.000. When YouTube compressed the video it becam hard to tell a comma from a period.

Time Fountain - Optical Illusion
This device creates the illusion that a simple stream of water droplets can defy the known laws of physics. By controlling a set of flickering LEDs, the dripping water can appear to slow down, freeze in mid-air, and even reverse in direction.
This illusion exists because the brain attempts to fill in the gaps between flashes with its anticipated motion. It is the same reason that your brain interprets the 24 frames/second of a movie to be in-motion, rather than recognizing the individual still frames .
The credit for this device belongs to Nate True. You can learn how to build your own Time Fountain at: http://cre.ations.net/creation/the-time-foutain

Gonna Make You Happy Tonight- Tripod
I think this XBOX is the best present I ever bought for YOU
Via: VideoSift
One of my favourite song
Tripod perform at the Just for Laughs comedy festival in Montreal, Canada.
The group consist of Scott Edgar, Simon Hall and Steven Gates, a trio from Melbourne Australia who specialize in comedy and improv. The official title of this song is "Make You Happy Tonight", and is a spoof describing the life of a video gamer, who presumably is meeting his wife/girlfriend for lovin' but just needs to finish just "one more level"
Tripods other hits include "Xmas Song", "IKEA Song" and "King of the Video Arcade", and are frequent performers at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Their album "Middleborough Rd" won the award for Best Comedy Release at the 2005 ARIA Awards.

Here's the lyrics:
Doo doo, doo doo,
Baby, gonna make you happy tonight
Gonna make you happy tonight
Oh sugar
Give my love to you, oh baby, gonna make you feel so right
Gonna make you, make you happy, ooh sugar
Spend some time with you
Do the things you want me to, gonna make love
Gonna make some sweet sweet love, sugar
So get ready oh get ready get ready get ready for lovin' tonight
Yeah, Oh
Before we get down to love, before we get down
I just gotta finish this level
You see I got a high score tonight
And I just wanna save my game
Well I'll be with you in a minute sweet darling baby honey
I love how you dance for me
Could you move a little to the left baby
I can't see the tv, oh, hey
Baby I can't wait til we start
Its just that the safe points are quite far apart, in this game baby
Ooh la la la la la la la
This parts got a multiplayer section honey
Maybe you could operate a turret with me, would you like that baby?
Games give you hand-eye coordination especially intelligence together with map reading skills, oh sugar
Turn the lights down low
Turn the lights down just a little bit lower baby
Turn the lights down low
Turn the lights down low
Turn the lights down low
Its just that it helps me feel like I'm in a space ship
Sweet sweet love honey sugar baby ooh you look so great to me
Baby
Have you brushed your teeth yet?
Take your time, no hurry
It's just that I'm not tired
Are you tired?
I'll see you in the bed then
You might wanna take a book, baby
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, you're so fine baby
You know I can't stop thinking about you baby
And all of the magic coins that I need to collect
Yea, see I just gotta find one more point of armor class and then I can take on the Robots of Zirgon B and then we can make love
I think this X-Box
Is the best present I ever bought for you, baby!

Battle for the Tiger focuses on the findings of three champions of tiger conservation: Belinda Wright, an artist turned undercover skin-trade investigator; Valmik Thapar, a tiger expert and activist, and Raghu Chundawat a whistle-blowing scientist,. Their conclusion is that Project Tiger has consistently miscalculated and over-estimated wild tiger numbers, so that the total population is closer now to crisis than when the project was established, and that unchecked poaching probably means some premier reserves have no tigers at all.

Horizon: The Six Billion Dollar Experiment
Via: VideoSift
A fantastic Horizon documentary which aired a couple weeks ago, looking at resolving the standard model theory for the big bang via an experiment in November 2007. From Wikipedia:
Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is a particle accelerator and collider located at CERN, near Geneva, Switzerland ( 46°14′00″N, 6°03′00″E). Currently under construction, the LHC is scheduled to begin operation (at reduced energies) in November 2007. Recent developments indicate that it will not be running before early 2008.[citation needed] The LHC is expected to become the world's largest and highest energy particle accelerator in 2008, when commissioning at 7 TeV is completed. The LHC is being funded and built in collaboration with over two thousand physicists from thirty-four countries, universities and laboratories.
When switched on, it is hoped that the collider will produce the elusive Higgs boson particle — often dubbed the God Particle — the observation of which could explain how other elementary particles gain mass and fill in the gap in the Standard Model theory.
The collider is contained in a 27 kilometre (17 mi) circumference tunnel located underground at a depth ranging from 50 to 150 metres.[1] The tunnel was formerly used to house the LEP, an electron-positron collider.

Heliodisplay
"Heliodisplay images are not holographic although they are free-space, employing a rear projection system in which images are captured onto a nearly invisible plane of transformed air. What the viewer sees is floating mid-air image or video. These projected images and video are two-dimensional, (i.e. planar) but appear 3D since there is no physical depth reference. While conventional displays have the benefit of being attached to a physical substrate, Heliodisplay projections are suspended in air, so you will notice some waviness to the quality of the projections." I am not good in blogging.
For those who hav seen my old blog before, they know how bad my blog was (as in how little entries I have in the blog) Dont bother looking up for the old blog, cause it doesnt contain much... may be a few entries about how 'sucky' my day was, how I whined about the stupid social phenomena ...or reviews about superman movies...
Anyway,
Unknown to many of you is the fact that I love watching videos. YouTube, GoogleVideo, VideoSift etc, everyday I browse through all these websites just looking for cool videos. Most of the time comedies, sometime documentary or news. Can never got too tired for this and I do it everyday (even during my exam period...I do need to relax and get myself away from books from time to time)
I believe people see different things looking at different things and on the same thing.
"Duh, because they are different things? because we have different pair of eyes?"
May be... but different people get different message while looking at the same thing. may be because of the different backgrounds of the beholder? different understandings, different comprehension, different wisdom?
I will not try to explain further about why people see different things, why people have different opinions. it is quite common sense really.
I believe what you see shape up what you think. (again, duh)
And I am intending to share what I am seeing.
I always bookmarked my favorite videos and sent it to people I know on msn... (if you have never received any from me...probably is because I didnt see you... I usually only sent links to people who are not in their busy mode just in case I didnt disrupt them) but my video bookmarks are growing big and I have no choice but to dispose some of the old ones. But I hate doing that knowing that I might still need it someday (to show them)....
Hence the blog, What I see List~~
just to embed the videos which I think are interesting to check out.
Bear in mind not all of them are entertaining stuff and some of them could be boring e.g. the Fermat last theorem.....X3 + Y3 not equal to Z3......those stuff. May be boring to you, but that is what I watched. you never know you might need it as a topic to flirt with a girl the next time you're in a bar....there I said it.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy watching, and see the things I am seeing.
"Look into my eyes,
tell me what you see,
cast my emotion aside,
can you see me? "

May be... but different people get different message while looking at the same thing. may be because of the different backgrounds of the beholder? different understandings, different comprehension, different wisdom?
~Nimrod
quoted from my friend's poem which I always loved.
